Lazarous Kambole Joins Nkana FC
Veteran Zambian striker Lazarous Kambole has officially joined Nkana FC as a free agent. The 30-year-old forward, who was recently released by Zesco United after a challenging season, is set to bring his experience and skill back to the Zambian Super League with the Kalampa.
Kambole’s return to Nkana marks a significant move in his career, which has seen both highs and lows. After leaving Zesco United in January 2023, he had a brief stint at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, where he aimed to regain his form. However, his time with Zesco United did not meet expectations, leading to his release.
Kambole first rose to prominence during his earlier spell at Zesco United, where his exceptional performances in the Zambian Super League and the CAF Champions League earned him a move to South African giants Kaizer Chiefs in 2019. Despite arriving at Chiefs with a high profile, Kambole struggled to find his footing in the South African Premier Soccer League, enduring three tough seasons where game time was hard to come by.
The highlight of Kambole’s career remains his stunning hat-trick in just five minutes during a CAF Champions League match against Mbabane Swallows of Eswatini. This remarkable feat was later confirmed by CAF as the fastest hat-trick in the history of the tournament, cementing Kambole’s place in African football history.
In addition to his club achievements, Kambole has also represented Zambia on the international stage, scoring seven goals in 17 appearances for the Chipolopolo. His return to Nkana FC is seen as an opportunity for the veteran striker to revive his career and contribute to the success of one of Zambia’s most storied football clubs.
Lazarous Kambole’s move to Nkana FC presents a fresh start for the veteran striker, who will be looking to reignite his career after a challenging period. With a history of memorable performances and a wealth of experience, Kambole’s return to the Zambian Super League could prove to be a key addition for Kalampa as they seek to bolster their attacking options.
