The Super Falcons are through to the knockout stages of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup after 0-0 draw against Ireland. Both teams were drawn In group B along side Canada and Australia.
There were joyous scenes for Nigeria as their goalless draw with the Republic of Ireland saw them move into the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup knockouts. Uchenna Kanu had Nigeria’s best chance during the second half of the encounter, only for Courtney Brosnan the Ireland’s goal keeper pull off a fine save. For Ireland, there was the consolation that this was their first-ever point recorded in the tournament.
They are the first African nation to qualify for the knockout stages at this year’s tournament.The Super Falcons will find out their next opponents when Group D draws to a close tomorrow.
The Super Falcons are one of the most successful teams in African women’s football and have won multiple competitions over the years, including the African Women’s Championship.
