Namasiku Lungowe Joins Nchanga Rangers Queens in Record-Breaking Transfer
Nchanga Rangers Queens have officially signed striker Namasiku Lungowe from ZISD in a historic transfer deal. The move, confirmed by both clubs, sees Lungowe become the most expensive local transfer in Zambian women’s football history, with a reported fee of K230,000.
The transfer shatters the previous record held by Pauline Zulu’s move to ZANACO Ladies for K170,000. Lungowe’s signing underlines the growing investment and competitiveness in women’s football, showcasing the increasing value of local talent.
In a statement on their Facebook page, ZISD bid farewell to their star forward, affectionately nicknamed “The Lioness of Senanga,” saying:
“The countdown is over. The lioness of Senanga, Namasiku Lungowe, ZISD jersey 10, is Kopala bound. In a record-breaking transfer to Brave Nchanga Rangers FC, Lungowe has become the most expensive local transfer in Zambia. The Kwapu Kwapu Nation wishes you all the best at your new club. Thank you for your service.”
Lungowe, known for her explosive pace and clinical finishing, was a standout player for ZISD, where she donned the number 10 jersey. Her contributions have made her a fan favorite, and her departure marks the end of a successful chapter at the club.
At Nchanga Rangers Queens, Lungowe is expected to spearhead the attack as the team eyes success in the FAZ Women’s Super Division. The move signals Nchanga Rangers’ ambition to strengthen their squad and compete at the highest level.
This transfer reflects the increasing recognition and support for women’s football in Zambia. As clubs invest in local talent, the sport continues to gain momentum, with fans eagerly anticipating
