Martha Tembo Joins Israel’s Raanana Women’s Soccer
Copper Queens defender and midfielder Martha Tembo has completed a move to Israeli club Raanana Women’s Soccer ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The Zambian international joins the club from Turkish side Hakkarigücü Spor and will report to her new team after completing her Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) campaign with the Copper Queens.
Announcing the signing, Raanana Women’s Soccer described Tembo as a player with vast international experience and expressed confidence that she will make a significant impact both on and off the pitch.
“Welcome Martha Tembo! Meet our new defender/midfielder, Zambia National Team player, who joins Raanana Women’s Soccer ahead of the 2026/27 season,” the club said.
Tembo is a regular starter for the Copper Queens and has amassed dozens of international appearances. She has represented Zambia on some of football’s biggest stages, including the FIFA Women’s World Cup and the Olympic Games.
The Israeli club believes her versatility will be one of her greatest strengths, with the ability to operate effectively in both defence and midfield.
“A highly versatile player, Martha brings physicality, pace, experience, character and real quality to both the back line and midfield. We believe she will be a major boost for the team—on the pitch and in the dressing room,” the club added.
Tembo’s move comes at an exciting time in her career as she prepares to help Zambia challenge for honours at the upcoming WAFCON before embarking on a new chapter in Israel.
Her transfer is another positive step for Zambian women’s football, with more Copper Queens stars continuing to secure opportunities in competitive leagues across the world.
Raanana Women’s Soccer concluded by welcoming the experienced international to the club, saying: “We are excited to welcome her to the Raanana Women’s Soccer family and wish her great success in blue.”
