Kansanshi Dynamos assistant coach Dennis Makinka has praised his team’s resilience and belief following a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Nchanga Rangers in Chingola, describing the result as a potential turning point in their MTN Super League campaign.
The Mabanga Boys showed composure and attacking efficiency to complete a league double over Rangers, with Kalonji Mwepu and Beby Musangala finding the back of the net. Nchanga responded through Davie Zulu, but Kansanshi held firm to secure all three points in what proved to be a tightly contested encounter.
Speaking after the match, Makinka emphasized the commitment and work ethic of his players, noting that their performances in training are now translating into results on the pitch. With the league table tightly packed, he stressed the importance of collecting points consistently, especially in difficult away fixtures.
“First of all, kudos to the boys. They are really working hard. You see them in training, and you can tell they are giving everything,” Makinka said. “The points are very close on the table, so we need to pick every point possible. This victory is a morale booster for us going into the next game.”
The Kansanshi assistant coach also acknowledged the challenge of playing in Chingola, a venue known for its intimidating atmosphere. However, he was impressed by his side’s mentality, highlighting their confidence and ability to perform under pressure against a strong home side backed by vocal supporters.
“When you start performing well against teams that are better placed than you, it shows progress,” Makinka added. “We challenged the boys this week—we asked them, ‘Are we all not in Zambia?’ So why should we only win at home? Today they played with confidence, like they were at home. This should be our turning point.”
The result lifts Kansanshi Dynamos to 12th place on 32 points, tightening their grip in an increasingly competitive mid-table battle. With momentum now on their side, the Mabanga Boys will be aiming to build consistency as they push further away from the relegation zone.
Despite minor injury concerns, Makinka remains optimistic about his squad depth, insisting the team has enough quality to cope with any setbacks as they prepare for their next assignment.
