Mutapa Fires Warning Before Kitwe Derby Clash
Speaking during the pre-match press conference held at the MTN Offices in Kitwe, head coach Osward Mutapa struck a confident tone, stating that his side is fully prepared for the challenge.
“We have been preparing the whole week and we know that we are the team to beat this season. The boys are ready for it and the whole squad is in good gear to go,” Mutapa said.
Power Dynamos have been one of the standout teams this season, and Mutapa’s remarks underline a growing belief within the camp as they aim to defend their league crown.
Club captain Salulani Phiri reinforced that mentality, highlighting the importance of securing maximum points to maintain their position at the top of the table.
“We know it’s a derby, but our focus as players is on winning the game so that we maintain the gap at the summit. We have enough experience, especially having played continental football,” Phiri said.
The Kitwe Derby remains one of the most intense fixtures in Zambian football, often defined by passion, pride, and high stakes regardless of form.
This latest edition will be played at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Saturday, 11th April 2026, with kick-off set for 15:00.
