Zambian striker Kennedy Musonda has officially joined Israeli Liga Leumit (second tier) side Hapoel Ramat Gan Givatayim, following the expiry of his contract with Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC (Yanga).
The 31-year-old forward leaves behind a decorated legacy in East Africa, having won three league titles with Yanga and featured in the CAF Confederation Cup final during the 2022/23 season.
From Tanzanian Glory to Israeli Challenge
Musonda played a pivotal role in Yanga’s domestic dominance, scoring crucial goals and helping the Dar es Salaam-based club maintain its stronghold in Tanzanian football. His performances in continental competitions further elevated his status, making him one of Zambia’s most consistent exports in recent years.
He scored four goals in Zambia’s AFCON qualification campaign, helping the Chipolopolo Boys return to Africa’s premier tournament set for later this year. His consistent displays have all but assured him a spot in the AFCON 2025 squad.
Proudly Zambian Roots
Before his move to East Africa, Musonda featured prominently in the MTN Super League with Power Dynamos, Zanaco, and Green Eagles. He rose through the ranks at Lusaka Youth Soccer Academy, a renowned development ground that also produced Solomon Sakala, Benedict Chepeshi, and Ackim Mumba.
Musonda now joins a small but growing list of Zambian players in Israel, including Chipyola Songa and Gift Mphande, as he embarks on the next chapter of his professional journey.
🗣️ What’s Next?
As he settles into life in Israel, all eyes will be on Musonda to bring his experience and goal-scoring prowess to Hapoel Ramat Gan, a club eager to make a strong push for promotion to the Israeli Premier League.
