Chipolopolo midfielder Kelvin Kapumbu and Konkola Blades have mutually agreed to terminate their contract, the Bola Yapa Zed Sports Desk understands.
Kapumbu joined the Chililabombwe-based outfit at the start of the season in what was considered a high-profile move from ZANACO FC, as Konkola Blades strengthened their squad for a demanding campaign.
However, just half a season into the partnership, both parties have opted to go their separate ways, agreeing that an early separation represents the best solution under the circumstances.
Future Still Unclear
At this stage, Kapumbu’s next destination remains uncertain. However, speculation has intensified after the midfielder was recently spotted at Sunset Stadium, where ZANACO hosted Kafue Celtic in a friendly match — a sighting that has naturally fueled talk of a possible return.
Kapumbu is no stranger to the Bankers. He rejoined ZANACO in October 2024 following spells at ZESCO United and Israeli side Petah Tikva, continuing a career that has seen him gain valuable experience both locally and abroad.
Chipolopolo Pedigree
Known for his relentless work rate and defensive discipline, Kapumbu has been a regular figure in the Chipolopolo setup over the past five years, earning a reputation as a dependable holding midfielder.
Despite his national team pedigree, he was absent from Zambia’s ill-fated AFCON 2025 campaign, a tournament that raised broader questions about selection and squad balance.
Clubs on Alert
According to information gathered by Bola Yapa Zed Sports Desk, several clubs are already monitoring Kapumbu’s situation closely, with interest building around the availability of the Young ZANACO product.
With the transfer window open and Kapumbu’s experience at both club and international level, a swift move could be on the cards.
