Justin Shonga Embarks on a New Football Odyssey with Najran SC
Zambian footballer Justin Shonga has set his sights on new horizons as he officially joins Najran SC, a second-tier football club based in Saudi Arabia. The 27-year-old striker has inked a short-term contract that will see him donning the Najran SC colors until the culmination of the ongoing season, with an option to extend his stay for another campaign. Shonga’s move to Najran SC comes hot on the heels of his departure from Georgian club Gagra, where he notched two goals across 16 appearances.
Under the guidance of manager Hadi Al-Kalib, Najran SC finalized the acquisition and eagerly shared the news across social media platforms. This pivotal transfer marks Shonga’s seventh stint at a professional football club since 2017, highlighting his journey through various leagues and football landscapes.
Shonga’s footballing voyage has taken him across continents, with notable spells at esteemed clubs such as Orlando Pirates in South Africa. During his tenure with the Buccaneers, Shonga left an indelible mark, featuring in 46 matches and finding the back of the net on 10 occasions. Following his tenure at Orlando Pirates, Shonga plied his trade at Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila and Cape Town City, where he continued to showcase his goal-scoring prowess with a tally of 5 goals in 22 matches.
In pursuit of new challenges, Shonga ventured to Egypt in 2021 to join Ismaily before returning to South Africa in 2022 with Sekhukhune United. Despite encountering obstacles during his tenure at Sekhukhune United, Shonga’s resilience and determination persevered, leading him to explore opportunities in different footballing environments, including a brief stint with Nkwazi before making the move to Georgia.
On the international stage, Shonga has proudly represented the Zambian national team, amassing an impressive record of 16 goals. His contributions to the national squad underscore his talent and dedication to football, further solidifying his status as a key figure within Zambian footballing circles.
As Justin Shonga embarks on this new chapter with Najran SC, he brings with him a wealth of experience, tenacity, and a proven ability to make an impact on the pitch. Fans eagerly await Shonga’s contributions to Najran SC’s campaign as they strive for success in their domestic competitions. With his versatility and goal-scoring acumen, Shonga is poised to make a significant impression as he embraces the challenges and opportunities of his latest footballing odyssey in Saudi Arabia.
