Highlanders Football Club have announced the departure of Zambian head coach Kelvin Kaindu, effective immediately. The decision was confirmed by the club in a statement issued on Wednesday, following a run of disappointing results in the ongoing campaign.
According to the official press release, Kaindu’s exit was necessitated by the team’s recent performance in the league. The coach leaves after recording only one win in the last seven matches, a streak that has left the Bulawayo giants languishing in 9th position with 23 points from 17 games.
Club Seeking New Direction
Highlanders’ executive committee acted swiftly, making the decision with the best interests of the club and its future in mind.
“The recent results have not met the aspirations of the club and its supporters, prompting the executive to seek a new direction,” the statement read.
The club is expected to announce a new head coach in the coming days as it aims to turn its season around and climb the league standings.
Kaindu’s Time at Highlanders
Kelvin Kaindu, one of Zambia’s highly rated coaches, joined Highlanders FC amid high expectations, bringing experience and tactical acumen. However, despite moments of promise, a run of inconsistencies has defined the team’s campaign. Currently placed 9th with only 23 points from 17 matches, the club felt a change was necessary.
What’s Next for Highlanders?
With the departure confirmed, Highlanders FC will now focus on finding a coach who can revitalize the team. The club aims to finish the campaign on a strong note and build towards a more successful future.
Fans have been encouraged to stay behind the team as the executive works to secure the right candidate to lead the Bulawayo giants forward.
