Hauptle: “Step by Step — WAFCON First, World Cup Later”

Hauptle Step by Step WAFCON First, World Cup Later

Copper Queens head coach Nora Hauptle has reaffirmed her team’s commitment to qualifying for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), declaring that nothing less than victory is acceptable as Zambia prepares to face Namibia in the final qualifying round.

Speaking during today’s training session in Lusaka, Hauptle praised the players’ intensity and focus, noting that they fully understand the magnitude of the task ahead.

“This is not just another match — it’s about securing our place at WAFCON,” Hauptle said. “I have eliminated Namibia before when I was coaching Ghana, and I plan to do it again with Zambia.”

Her confidence is backed by strong team morale, boosted by a special appearance from Copper Queens captain Barbra Banda, who is currently recovering from injury but took time to visit the squad during training.

“These girls are ready. I believe they will get the job done,” Banda assured.

With both experience and belief on their side, the Copper Queens are gearing up for a high-stakes showdown — one that could define their road to Morocco 2026.
