Hauptle: Copper Queens Are Fully Locked in for WAFCON Qualification

Hauptle Copper Queens Are Fully Locked In for WAFCON Qualification

Copper Queens head coach Nora Hauptle says her squad is fully committed to securing qualification for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) as they prepare to face Namibia in the final round of qualifiers.

Speaking during a training session in Lusaka, Hauptle stressed that the players understand the magnitude of the task ahead.

“The team knows what is at stake. We are focused, disciplined and ready,” she insisted.

The Swiss coach expressed optimism, drawing confidence from her personal track record — recalling how she previously eliminated Namibia while coaching Ghana’s women’s team, a feat she is determined to replicate with Zambia.

Meanwhile, Copper Queens captain Barbra Banda, who paid a visit to the squad during training, also backed her teammates to deliver.

“I have full confidence in the girls. They know what needs to be done,” Banda said.

Zambia will engage Namibia over two legs, with the aggregate winner clinching a spot at Morocco 2026.
