Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club Wins 2024 Charity Shield
Copperbelt, Ndola (August 10, 2024) – The Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club made history today by winning the inaugural Carling Black Label Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndhlovu Charity Shield. The match, held at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, marked the beginning of a new tradition in Zambian women’s football.
The Charity Shield featured a showdown between the winners of the 2023/2024 Zambian Premier League (ZPL) National Women’s Super Division and the newly promoted Choma Warriors Academy Women’s Football Club, who emerged victorious in the 2023/2024 FAZ Women’s National Division One League.
In a match that will long be remembered, the Green Buffaloes delivered a stunning 10-0 defeat to Choma Warriors, showcasing their dominance on the pitch. The Buffaloes were relentless from the start, with Vanessa Chikupila and Maylan Mulenga both securing hat-tricks. Additional goals from Maweta Chilenga, Memory Nthala, Natasha Nanyangwe, and new signing Thanda Mokgabo, who recently joined from YASA Queens Football Club, sealed the comprehensive victory.
