FAZ Mourns the Loss of Coper Queens Striker Norin Betani
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) is deeply saddened by the untimely passing of Copper Queens and Indeni Roses striker Norin Betani. Betani’s death comes as a shock and a great loss to the Zambian football community.
Betani tragically passed away on Wednesday morning at the University Teaching Hospital after being diagnosed with suspected malaria. Her sudden departure has left a void in the hearts of her teammates, coaches, fans, and the entire football fraternity.
Reuben Kamanga, the General Secretary of FAZ, expressed the association’s profound sorrow over Betani’s demise. He revealed that Betani reported to camp while unwell and was promptly taken to the hospital for a thorough examination based on the recommendation of team medics. Despite receiving medical attention and care, Betani’s condition worsened, leading to her passing.
FAZ, along with the player’s family and her club, Indeni Roses, remained by Betani’s side throughout her hospitalization, providing support and assistance during this difficult time. Kamanga assured that details regarding Betani’s funeral arrangements would be communicated in due course, urging the football community to mourn her loss with dignity and respect.
The funeral service for Norin Betani is being held in Garden House, Lusaka, at her parents’ residence, where family, friends, teammates, and well-wishers gather to pay their respects and bid farewell to the talented young striker.
As the football family comes together to mourn the passing of Norin Betani, let us remember her for her contributions to the sport and the joy she brought to those around her. May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory continue to inspire and uplift us all.
