CAF Announces 2025 AFCON Dates in Morocco
The anticipation for African football reaches new heights as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) unveils the official dates for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be held in Morocco. Following extensive discussions and collaboration with FIFA, CAF has finalized plans to host the prestigious tournament during the summer months of July and August.
In a bid to avoid overlap with FIFA’s expanded Club World Cup in North America, CAF and FIFA have reached a consensus to schedule the 2025 AFCON in Morocco. This decision underscores the commitment of both organizations to prioritize the optimal conditions and success of African football events.
According to reports, the proposed dates for the tournament are set between July 20 and August 16 or 17, 2025. This timeframe aims to provide sufficient time for teams to prepare and compete while ensuring minimal disruption to domestic and international football calendars.
The agreement between CAF and FIFA reflects a concerted effort to adapt to changing circumstances and address logistical challenges effectively. With discussions initiated several months ago and intensified during the last edition of AFCON in Ivory Coast, the finalized plans signify a significant step forward for African football.
Preparations for the 2025 AFCON are already underway, with qualifying matches poised to commence soon. National teams across the continent are gearing up to compete for the chance to showcase their talent on the grand stage and vie for continental glory.
Looking ahead, CAF has also revealed plans for the 2027 Cup of Nations, which will see joint hosting by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. This ambitious initiative aims to expand the reach of African football and foster collaboration among neighboring nations.
As the footballing world eagerly anticipates the spectacle of the 2025 AFCON, the announcement of official dates brings clarity and excitement to fans, players, and stakeholders alike. With Morocco set to host the tournament, all eyes will be on the African continent as teams compete for the prestigious title and etch their names into footballing history.
