FAZ Clarifies Nora Situation, Confirms 4-Nations Tourney

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has confirmed that all outstanding issues involving Copper Queens head coach Nora Häuptle have been resolved following a series of meetings with FAZ president Keith Mweemba.

According to Acting Deputy General Secretary Iva Lengwe, Coach Häuptle has already submitted her travel itinerary to the FAZ Secretariat and is expected back in Zambia ahead of the Four-Nations Tournament set for the June FIFA Window.

The tournament will feature Zambia, Kenya, Zimbabwe and Burkina Faso as part of preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

“As things stand at present, Coach Nora will certainly lead the Copper Queens at the forthcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations tournament,” Lengwe stated.

FAZ further stressed that preparations for WAFCON remain a top priority as the Copper Queens continue building towards the continental showpiece in July.

The Association also thanked the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts together with members of the public for their concern and continued support towards the women’s national team.

The announcement comes after weeks of uncertainty surrounding Häuptle’s future following reports of contractual and administrative disagreements between the coach and FAZ.
