The Zambian Premier League (ZPL) has announced the conclusion of Eden University’s sponsorship of the Women’s Super League, bringing an early end to the three-year K3 million partnership that began in August 2024.
The agreement, which was scheduled to run until July 2027, has been terminated due to financial constraints faced by Eden University amid challenging economic conditions.
In a statement, the ZPL expressed its appreciation to Eden University for its contribution to women’s football development, highlighting that the sponsorship had “played a vital role in elevating the Women’s Super League and providing opportunities for many talented female athletes.”
The League further reassured fans and stakeholders of its commitment to sustaining the progress made over the past year, confirming that talks are already underway with potential sponsors who share the vision of advancing women’s football in Zambia.
ZPL also appealed to the corporate community to take up the mantle of supporting women’s football, emphasizing that such partnerships are key to empowering women through sport and maintaining the momentum gained since the league’s inception.
Despite the setback, optimism remains within the football fraternity that the Women’s Super League will continue to grow stronger as new partners come on board to sustain the development of the women’s game in Zambia.
