Dynamos Sound Warning Ahead of Nampundwe Absa Cup Clash
Power Dynams assistant coach Linos Makwaza has stressed that his side will not underestimate Nampundwe FC ahead of their ABSA Cup Round of 16 encounter.
Speaking ahead of the Good Friday fixture in Kitwe, Makwaza stressed that thorough preparation has already been undertaken, with the technical bench closely studying their opponents.
“We have been watching how Nampundwe plays. We started preparing for this fixture last week, and the team is ready,” he said.
Despite Nampundwe’s underdog status, Makwaza acknowledged the quality within their squad, including experienced players and loanees from Nchanga Rangers.
“They have good players, especially those who have joined them recently. They also have seasoned players, so we cannot take them lightly.”
Power Dynamos are aiming to end a prolonged wait for silverware, with Makwaza emphasising the club’s determination to avoid past mistakes.
“We want to win this cup because it has been long. We have been making the same mistakes, and this time we want to correct them.”
The coach also highlighted squad rotation as an opportunity rather than a risk, noting that players who have struggled for league minutes will be given a chance to prove themselves.
“There are no small teams in football anymore. Any team in the ABSA Cup is a big team. We will approach this game like a CAF match or a league game.”
Team captain Samuel Bamidele echoed the same sentiment, underlining the squad’s collective responsibility.
“As players, we will take it like any big game. Giving other players a chance is not a problem because anyone in the squad is capable of representing Power Dynamos.”
The match is set for 15:00 at Arthur Davies Stadium, with the Kitwe giants expected to draw strong home support.
Makwaza called on fans to play their part, urging a full turnout.
“When we play, it is always a full house. We need the 12th man in the terraces. They should come in numbers.”
With both teams eyeing a place in the quarter-finals, the fixture presents a classic cup scenario favourites under pressure and underdogs eager to upset the odds.
