The Zambia U-17 Women’s National Team, the Copper Princesses, has stormed into the semifinals of the COSAFA U-17 Girls Championship 2024 after an astonishing 10-0 victory over Mauritius. This emphatic win has set up a thrilling semifinal clash with Group B winners, Madagascar.
Ruthless Copper Princesses Shine in Group C
Zambia’s impressive display in Group C saw them finish at the summit with a perfect nine points, thanks to commanding wins over Botswana (3-0), Zimbabwe (7-2), and Mauritius (10-0). The match against Mauritius showcased the team’s attacking prowess, with Red Arrows winger Masela Sekeseke netting a double brace, Mercy Chipasula and Natasha Nkaka adding two goals each, and Grace Phiri scoring one. An own goal by Princess Samiette sealed the comprehensive rout.
Semifinal Date Set
The Copper Princesses will face Madagascar on Wednesday at 11:00 am in a much-anticipated semifinal match. Madagascar secured their spot as Group B winners with a stunning 1-0 victory over defending champions South Africa, further setting the stage for a competitive clash.
