Clatous Chama Leads Singinda Big Stars to Historic CAF Confederation Cup Group Stage

By Bola Yapa Zed | 26th October, 2025

Zambian midfielder Clatous “Triple C” Chota Chama played a pivotal role as Singinda Big Stars FC made history by qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup group stage for the first time in the club’s history.

Chama was once again the man of the moment, converting from the penalty spot to help the Tanzanian outfit secure a 3–1 win over Burundian side Flambeau du Centre in the second leg, sealing a 4–2 aggregate victory at the Azam Complex Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Having scored in the 1–1 first-leg draw away in Burundi, Clatous Chama carried his fine continental form into the return fixture, once again demonstrating his composure and leadership.

After Flambeau du Centre took a surprise lead in the 26th minute through David Irishura, the Zambian playmaker took charge of the midfield, orchestrating play and urging his side forward. His calmness and passing range allowed Singinda to regroup and regain momentum before Horso Muaku equalized ten minutes into the second half.

The turning point came in the 65th minute when the visitors were reduced to ten men following a deliberate handball inside the box. Chama confidently stepped up to take the resulting penalty and made no mistake — sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to make it 2–1.

That goal not only put Singinda ahead on the night but also underlined Chama’s growing reputation as one of Africa’s most composed midfielders under pressure. His influence was evident throughout the game as he dictated tempo and provided a sense of assurance every time he touched the ball.

With the crowd roaring behind them, Idriss Diomande added a third in the 75th minute with a well-timed header to put the result beyond doubt. The final whistle sparked scenes of joy among players, technical staff, and fans alike — marking a landmark moment in Singinda Big Stars’ journey.

The 4–2 aggregate win sends the Tanzanian side into the CAF Confederation Cup group stage for the first time in their history, an achievement that cements their rise as one of East Africa’s emerging football powers.

Chama’s exploits continue to highlight the growing influence of Zambian players in Tanzanian football. Having already established himself as one of Simba SC’s standout players in previous seasons, Chama has now written a new chapter with Singinda, proving his ability to deliver on the continental stage.

His leadership, vision, and ability to perform in high-pressure situations have earned him admiration from fans across the region — and his latest performance only enhances his reputation as one of Zambia’s most decorated active internationals.

For Singinda Big Stars, this qualification represents a new dawn — a sign that the club is ready to compete with Africa’s elite. For Clatous Chama, it is yet another reminder of his consistency, experience, and importance wherever he goes.

As the group stage draw approaches, Singinda joins clubs like ZESCO United (Zambia), Azam FC (Tanzania), USM Alger (Algeria), San Pedro (Ivory Coast), Olympique de Safi (Morocco), and Maniema FC (DR Congo) — with their sights now firmly set on advancing even further in this year’s CAF Confederation Cup.
