Chitoshi Chinga Terminates Contract with Nkana, Becomes Free Agent
Nkana FC defender Chitoshi Chinga has officially parted ways with the Kitwe-based club, becoming a free agent after terminating his contract. The decision follows the club’s alleged failure to meet specific obligations outlined in the new contract signed in February 2025.
The 26-year-old opted to walk away from Kalampa, citing unmet conditions in the agreement that left him with no choice but to end his stay at the record 13-time Zambian champions.
Contractual Breakdown Forces Early Exit
Chinga’s departure comes as a surprise, especially considering the short time span since penning the new deal earlier this year. While the exact details remain undisclosed, sources close to the player confirmed that Nkana failed to fulfill certain clauses, prompting the termination.
“Chinga was left with no choice. He wanted to stay, but the club didn’t honor key elements of the new deal,” a source told Bola Yapa Zed.
Chinga had been expected to play a pivotal role in Nkana’s rebuilding phase, but the breakdown in agreement has now put him back on the market ahead of the June-July transfer window.
What’s Next for Chitoshi Chinga?
With his departure now confirmed, Chinga joins the growing list of experienced free agents in the Zambian football scene. Known for his aggressive style of defending and leadership at the back, he’s likely to attract interest from several MTN Super League and National Division One clubs.
Clubs in Botswana and Tanzania have reportedly monitored his progress in recent months, and his availability could trigger a transfer tussle in the coming weeks.
A Blow for Nkana FC
For Nkana, this is another setback as they continue to face financial and administrative challenges that have plagued the club over the past two seasons. The loss of a senior defender under such circumstances raises questions about contract management and player welfare at one of Zambia’s most decorated clubs.
Nkana is currently trying to steady its campaign and will now have to seek reinforcements in the transfer market to fill the void left by Chinga’s exit.
