Chipolopolo Intensify Preps for Mambas Clash
The Zambia Men’s Football National Team has continued preparing for Sunday’s African Nations Championship (CHAN) first leg tie with the Mambas of Mozambique in Maputo.
Coach Aljosa Asanovic and his squad have settled in Maputo since arriving on Wednesday and have been shaping up at the immaculately tendered Black Bulls Arena on the outskirts of the Mozambique capital.
With the weather oscillating between extreme heat, coldness, and some occasional showers, it has proved a perfect decision to arrive in Maputo early for acclimatization.
The team went through the paces this afternoon on a mildly sodden pitch but were at ease with the cool weather.
Asanovic’s charges are all fit with only Spencer Sautu ruled out of Sunday’s tie due to injury.
Sunday’s match will be played at Estádio do Zimpeto and will kick off at 15:00 hours (CAT).
The two sides will conclude their battle on July 30 in Lusaka at National Heroes Stadium with the winner meeting Malawi in the final round which will take place next month.
Malawi was given a walkover following the ban on Zimbabwe by FIFA.
The CHAN is a tournament exclusive to players who compete in the domestic league.
