
CHAN 2024 Prize Money Increased to $3.5 Million for Winners
The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has announced a significant increase in the prize money for the upcoming TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN), scheduled to take place in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda in February 2025.
The winners of the tournament will now take home a record-breaking USD 3.5 million, reflecting a 75% increase from previous editions. The total prize pool for the tournament has also been boosted by 32%, rising to USD 10.4 million.
CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe emphasized the importance of CHAN in developing Africa-based players and elevating the continent’s football standards globally:
“We are excited about the upcoming TotalEnergies CAF CHAN and have significantly increased the prize money for the winners. This competition is essential for the development of African football talent and is part of our strategy to make African football globally competitive, attractive to fans, and appealing to sponsors.”

Tournament Dates: 1 February to 28 February 2025
Qualified Teams: 17 nations have already secured their spots, with two more to join after the final qualification matches.

The increased prize money is expected to not only motivate participating teams but also attract greater global attention to the tournament. CHAN remains a unique competition that exclusively showcases talent from players based in their domestic leagues.
With Zambia among the qualified teams, fans are eagerly awaiting the tournament, where the Copper Bullets will aim to make history under coach Wedson Nyirenda.
