CAF Awards 2023: Osimhen and Oshoala Crowned Best in Africa, Morocco Dominates National Teams
Marrakech, Morocco: Victor Osimhen and Asisat Oshoala emerged triumphant at the CAF Awards 2023, claiming the coveted Player of the Year honors in their respective categories.
Osimhen, Nigerian striker and Napoli star, reigned supreme in the men’s competition, edging out Mohamed Salah and Achraf Hakimi to secure the award. His impressive season, culminating in Napoli’s league title victory, cemented his position as Africa’s top player.
Oshoala, Nigerian forward and Barcelona champion, continued her reign of dominance, capturing the Women’s Player of the Year award for a record-breaking sixth time. Her influence in Barcelona’s Champions League triumph proved decisive, solidifying her status as the continent’s most decorated female footballer.
Beyond individual accolades, Morocco enjoyed a significant night, claiming National Team of the Year awards. Their outstanding performance on the international stage, including a historic run to the World Cup semifinals, earned them the well-deserved recognition.
