Striker Andrew Phiri has signed a three-year contract with Tanzanian NBC Premier League side Singida, ending his successful spell with MTN Super League club FC Muza.
The 24-year-old Zambian forward, who made his mark as one of the most prolific strikers in Zambia, joins a club determined to challenge the dominance of Tanzanian giants Yanga SC, Simba SC, and Azam FC. Singida has been steadily building a competitive squad in recent years, and Phiri’s arrival is seen as a major statement of intent.
Prolific Goal Scorer at Muza
Phiri leaves Muza with an impressive record of 69 goals across all competitions, cementing his status as one of the league’s most lethal strikers. He finished as Muza’s top scorer for four consecutive seasons, while also collecting multiple individual awards, including the Fans’ Player of the Season in the 2023/24 campaign.
At the beginning of last season, Phiri was linked with moves to Zesco United and Power Dynamos, even reporting late to pre-season training in a bid to force a transfer. Despite the challenges, he continued delivering goals for the Mazabuka-based club.
International Experience
The striker has featured for Zambia across various levels, including the U23s, the COSAFA Cup, and the CHAN tournament, where Chipolopolo exited without a point. In March 2025, Phiri also attended trials with Orlando Pirates in South Africa, further underlining his growing reputation.
A New Challenge in Tanzania
Singida’s acquisition of Phiri is expected to boost their attacking options as they push to challenge for higher league finishes. His move to Tanzania continues the trend of Zambian players making an impact in the NBC Premier League, following in the footsteps of other Chipolopolo stars who have plied their trade in East Africa.
With his eye for goal and hunger to succeed, Phiri will now look to replicate his success from Zambia in Tanzania’s competitive football environment.
