AmaZulu Bolsters Squad with Augustine Mulenga’s Return
AmaZulu Football Club has made a strategic move to enhance its squad, securing the return of seasoned Zambian striker Augustine Mulenga.
The 34-year-old forward played a pivotal role in AmaZulu’s impressive second-place finish in the DStv Premiership during the 2020/21 season under former coach Benni McCarthy.
As AmaZulu entered the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) enforced break, their goal-scoring prowess faced challenges, with only 14 goals in 16 matches.
Coach Pablo Franco Martín sees Mulenga’s return as a key solution to improve the team’s conversion rate and inject experience into the squad.
Reflecting on his decision to rejoin AmaZulu, Mulenga expressed his enjoyment of the club and the city. He emphasized the supportive community, both on and off the field, and expressed optimism about continuing to contribute to the team’s success.
The striker’s return marks a significant addition to AmaZulu’s lineup as they aim for continued excellence in the Premiership.
