ZPL Women Super League Week 16 Review

By Bola Yapa Zed Sports Desk | 20th December 2025

The ZPL Women Super League delivered a thrilling Week 16 round of fixtures, producing 31 goals across nine matches as the title race, continental places, and relegation battle all intensified. With just one round remaining before the mid-season break, teams were eager to consolidate their positions on the table, and several delivered emphatic statements.

At the summit, Green Buffaloes Women remain top with 41 points from 16 matches, closely followed by Zesco Ndola Girls on 37 points with a game in hand, while Zanaco Ladies (36 points) and Red Arrows Women (34 points) continue to apply pressure in the top four. At the other end, the relegation fight remains wide open, with ZISD FC, Chipata Girls, and Amazing Grace FC struggling for survival.

Nchanga Rangers Queens 8–1 Amazing Grace FC

Nchanga Rangers Queens produced the most dominant performance of Week 16, thrashing Amazing Grace FC 8–1 at Nchanga Stadium in the highest-scoring match of the round. The emphatic victory lifted Nchanga Rangers Queens to seventh place on 28 points, strengthening their push for a top-six finish, while Amazing Grace FC remain 16th with just 8 points, deep in relegation danger after conceding 37 goals this season.

Congolese forward Sarrive Badiambila Lobo was the star of the show, netting her first hat-trick of the season in a ruthless attacking display. She was ably supported by Gracious Tailoshi and Lungowe Namasiku, who both registered their first braces of the campaign, underlining Nchanga’s attacking depth. Brenda Mwewa also got her name on the scoresheet as the hosts overwhelmed their opponents with pace, movement, and clinical finishing.

For Amazing Grace FC, the heavy defeat further exposed their defensive struggles, with a goal difference now standing at -23. Despite managing a consolation goal, they were unable to cope with Nchanga’s relentless pressure, leaving them facing an uphill battle to escape the relegation zone heading into the final fixture before the break.

Green Buffaloes Women 5–0 Chipata Girls

League leaders Green Buffaloes Women responded emphatically to their first defeat of the season by demolishing Chipata Girls 5–0 at David Kaunda Stadium. The win keeps Buffaloes top of the table on 41 points, boasting an impressive 45 goals scored and just 8 conceded, while Chipata Girls remain 17th with 5 points, still searching for their first win of the campaign.

Regina Kayamboma marked her first start of the season in style, scoring a brace, including a confidently taken penalty. Esther Siamfuko announced herself with a debut goal, while further strikes from Evarine Susan Katongo and Agness Phiri, also from the penalty spot, completed a comprehensive attacking display.

The result reaffirmed Green Buffaloes Women’s credentials as title contenders, with their response highlighting squad depth and mental resilience. For Chipata Girls, however, the defeat leaves them with 35 goals conceded and a mounting survival challenge as the season progresses.

Red Arrows Women 5–1 Kamfinsa Blue Eagles Queens

At Nkoloma Stadium, Red Arrows Women continued their strong form with a commanding 5–1 victory over Kamfinsa Blue Eagles Queens. The result moved Arrows to fourth place on 34 points, keeping them firmly in the title conversation, while Kamfinsa remain 11th with 17 points, struggling for consistency.

Substitute Masela Sekeseke made an immediate impact after coming on, scoring two quick goals to put the game beyond reach. Mary Mambwe, Mwaziona Sakala, and Beatrice Njobvu also found the net, although Njobvu endured mixed fortunes after also scoring an unfortunate own goal.

Red Arrows’ attacking efficiency and ability to influence games from the bench continues to set them apart. Kamfinsa Blue Eagles Queens, meanwhile, were once again undone defensively, with their goal difference dropping to -7, leaving them needing a strong response in the final round before the break.

Zesco Ndola Girls 4–1 Green Eagles Women

Second-placed Zesco Ndola Girls delivered a composed performance to defeat Green Eagles Women 4–1 at the Trade Fair Ground, moving to 37 points from 15 matches and maintaining pressure on the league leaders with a superior goal difference of +39.

Dorothy Daka set the tone with a goal inside the opening minute, stunning the visitors early. Goals from Avell Chitundu and Thandiwe Ndhlovu followed, before substitute Milla Milambo added a fourth to cap a dominant display. Racheal Moono scored a consolation goal for Green Eagles Women.

The victory keeps Zesco firmly in the title race, while Green Eagles Women remain sixth with 32 points, their hopes of breaking into the top four taking a hit after conceding four goals for the first time in several weeks.

Zanaco Ladies 2–0 The Elite Ladies

Zanaco Ladies extended their excellent run of form with a 2–0 win over The Elite Ladies at Sunset Stadium, recording their eighth consecutive victory. The win keeps Zanaco third on 36 points, with a solid goal difference of +25, while The Elite Ladies sit 10th with 20 points.

Captain Regina Chanda once again led by example, scoring both goals, including one from the penalty spot. Her composure and leadership in the final third proved decisive as Zanaco controlled proceedings from start to finish.

With defensive solidity and consistent scoring, Zanaco Ladies continue to emerge as genuine title contenders. For The Elite Ladies, the defeat leaves them with a -9 goal difference, highlighting ongoing challenges at both ends of the pitch.

Yasa Queens 0–1 Konkola Blades Queens

At Independence Stadium, Konkola Blades Queens secured a crucial 1–0 away victory over Yasa Queens, moving up to eighth place on 26 points, while Yasa Queens remain 13th with 13 points.

The match appeared destined for a draw until Chisola Ng’andu struck late, showing composure to convert and silence the home crowd. The goal underlined Konkola’s growing belief and ability to grind out results away from home.

For Yasa Queens, the defeat was another setback in a difficult campaign, with their goal difference now at -15, leaving them firmly in the relegation battle heading into the final round.

Indeni Roses 1–0 Trident Queens

Indeni Roses claimed a narrow but valuable 1–0 victory over Trident Queens at Indeni Sports Complex, keeping them fifth on 32 points, level with Green Eagles Women but ahead on goal difference.

Mwila Mwamba proved the difference-maker with a decisive strike, as Indeni displayed tactical discipline and defensive organisation to protect their lead.

Trident Queens remain ninth with 21 points, struggling to convert possession into goals, a trend that has stalled their progress in the middle of the table.

Nkwazi Queens 1–1 National Assembly Women

At Edwin Imboela Stadium, Nkwazi Queens and National Assembly Women shared the spoils in a 1–1 draw, a result that leaves both sides still entrenched in the relegation scrap.

Lillian Mwaba opened the scoring for National Assembly Women, who sit 14th with 10 points, before Stacy Mwelwa equalised for Nkwazi Queens, who remain 15th, also on 10 points but with fewer matches played.

Neither side did enough to pull clear of danger, and with goal differences of -12 and -17 respectively, survival remains far from assured.

Luyando Foundation Girls 0–0 ZISD FC

The only goalless draw of the round came at Independence Stadium, where Luyando Foundation Girls and ZISD FC cancelled each other out. Luyando remain 12th with 15 points, while ZISD FC stay bottom on 5 points, having conceded a league-high 58 goals.

Despite chances at both ends, neither side could find a breakthrough, with goalkeeping and wasteful finishing defining the contest.

The draw does little to help either team’s cause, particularly ZISD FC, who face an increasingly uphill task to avoid relegation.
