The FIFA womens world cup has entered its fifth day of fixtures with some of the tournaments famous and debutant teams kicking off their campaign.
Yesterday Sweden took on South Africa and the battle ended in a 2-1 while Portugal faced the Netherlands in a match that ended with Netherlands netting one goal. France played Jamaica in a match that witnessed France dominating the ball possession and creating numerous chances but failing to convert them into goals.However Jamaica defended well and managed to hold on for a goalless draw.
Day 5 of the tournament has started with Italy playing against Argentina both of which are drawn in group G. While trying to Seek their first victory Agentina nearly shocked Italy early on,with Mariana Larroquettes acrobatic attempt drifting agonisingly widely at Italy’s right hand post. It was a warning sign that the Italians took note of until they established dominance and scored a goal through striker Cristiana Girelli in the second half of the game.
