Vast Phiri Joins Green Buffaloes Women from ZESCO Ndola Girls

Green Buffaloes Women Football Club have strengthened their defensive department with the permanent signing of experienced central defender Vast Phiri from ZESCO Ndola Girls Football Club.

The defender arrives with considerable experience at domestic level and has also been part of Zambia’s senior national team squads for major international competitions. Phiri was called up for the 2018 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and was also part of the squad for the delayed 2020 Olympic Games, the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Phiri is regarded as a strong, composed and disciplined defender, with her reading of the game, leadership and experience expected to add valuable depth to the Green Buffaloes backline. Her exposure to major international tournaments has also given her experience of competing in high-pressure environments.

The defender’s involvement with the Zambia national team setup places her among the players who could potentially come into consideration for future national team selection, while her move to Green Buffaloes gives her another opportunity to continue developing and competing at a high level.
