Zambian mixed martial artist Mutinta Mweene has been crowned the women’s flyweight champion at the 2026 IMMAF Angola Dipanda Open World Cup after defeating home favourite Itiambra Da Conceição by unanimous decision in the final in Luanda, Angola.
The reigning IMMAF African champion produced a disciplined three-round performance on Sunday, combining effective striking with her wrestling to secure the championship belt and gold medal. Mweene, popularly known as “The Crippler,” showed composure throughout the contest and successfully imposed her style against her Angolan opponent.
From the opening round, Mweene applied pressure and looked to take the fight into areas where she could make full use of her wrestling. The Zambian repeatedly secured takedowns and established top position, controlling significant portions of the contest from above while limiting Conceição’s opportunities to build momentum.
As the fight progressed, Mweene’s experience became increasingly evident. She maintained her discipline, continued mixing her striking with takedowns and remained effective in controlling the fight on the ground. Her ability to dictate the pace and repeatedly bring the contest back to her preferred areas ultimately earned her the judges’ unanimous decision and the World Cup crown.
The victory adds another major achievement to Mweene’s growing record and further underlines her status as one of Zambia’s leading representatives in international mixed martial arts. Having already been crowned IMMAF African champion, she has now added a global title to her collection with gold in Luanda.
Mweene’s triumph also represents a landmark moment for Zambian MMA, as she becomes the first Zambian fighter, male or female, to win an IMMAF World Cup title.
