The Setback Of Zambian Football Regarding Patson Daka & Enock Mwepu
It seems like the Zambian football history in the making has taken a major setback as both Patson Daka & Enock Mwepu are out of the English Premia League just less than 2 years down the line.
It is hard to explain but the reality is that, both top players will no longer represent their motherland in the prestigious football tournaments ever, the English premia League. Though the reasons maybe different, we will not forget the joy it brought to fans back at home.
Background
Both Enock Mwepu & Patson Daka were playing for RB Salzburg in the Bundesliga from Australia before they made their way in the top EPL teams after putting up an excellent show performances. After a lot of rumors linking them to teams like Arsenal & Manchester United, Patson Daka ended at Leicester City while Enock Mwepu at Brighton Of Albion respectively on a 4 year deal.
Performances In The EPL
Both players performed very well in their respectively clubs especially when they faced top competitive games. in their first recorded games when they joined the season, They both had 3 assists, while Daka had 4 goals on his record & Mwepu had 1 goal.
They both scored against big teams & beating goal keepers like Joe Hart, De Gea & Ederson, Daka scored against Manchester United & Mwepu scored a stunner against Liverpool. Daka currently has a hat trick on his sleeve for his team in one game he scored 4 goals alone.
Problems
While both players seemed to be enjoying their stay at their clubs, problems were mounting as they were not played that much. Fans world over started calling out their coaches to involve them, but all could just reach a death ear. The blow came when Enock Mwepu fail sick & had to announce his departure from the team, Brighton – cutting short his 4 year penned deal.
Before football fanatics could stomach this news, Leicester City was slipping into relegation zone, though the team tried different methods to resuscitated themselves back to a life-line that they would pull to a safe zone, it could not work until they are now a verge of being booted back to the Championship games which they will have to try in the season after the next ends if that happens
Conclusion:
Looking at the case of Patson Daka & Enock Mwepu being different, we can hope that Leicester City will release Daka to a team that will be interested in him though the club has showed no interests in letting him go. For Mwepu, we wish him well in his endeavors as pushes on to coach. This is sad for Mother Zambia, until new developments comes in… our fingers are crossed.
