Aguila Stars FC have confirmed the appointment of William Njobvu as the First Assistant Coach for the upcoming 2025/26 ZPL National League season. The former Zambia international joins the Queensmead-based side as part of a new technical setup that aims to push the club into MTN Super League contention.
From International Glory to the Dugout
Njobvu brings with him a decorated playing career, highlighted by appearances in three Africa Cup of Nations tournaments (2006, 2008, and 2010) and a standout role at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Canada in 2007, where Zambia reached the Round of 16 under George Lwandamina.
During his professional career, he earned a reputation as a hardworking midfielder with an eye for goal and the ability to dictate play—attributes that now inform his coaching philosophy.
“William’s knowledge of the game both on and off the pitch will be vital as we build toward a competitive season,” Aguila Stars stated.
A New Chapter with Aguila Stars
The 36-year-old takes up the role of First Assistant Coach under newly appointed Head Coach Brian Kunsanama, with Ignitious Lwipa serving as Second Assistant. The coaching trio is expected to bring structure, tactical intelligence, and experience to a side that finished 11th in the 2024/25 season.
Njobvu’s presence is expected to offer mentorship to Aguila’s younger players and bring a professional mentality to the dressing room, having played at both domestic and international levels.
A Football Journey Across Borders
Njobvu played club football in Israel, turning out for Kiryat Shmona and Hapoel Beer Sheva, before returning to Zambia where he featured for Lusaka Dynamos and Kabwe Warriors. Known for his discipline and understanding of the game, Njobvu was widely respected among peers and coaches alike.
Now transitioning into full-time coaching, he brings the same passion, professionalism, and tactical awareness to Aguila Stars.
Mentoring the Next Generation
Njobvu’s appointment is particularly exciting for Aguila’s youthful squad. His insights from over a decade of international football will be instrumental in preparing players for high-pressure matches and guiding them toward achieving promotion.
“He’s been there, done that. Now it’s time to pass that experience on to the next wave,” noted one club official.
