The electrifying atmosphere at Nakambala stadium was palpable as FC Muza and Green Eagles faced off in the highly-anticipated Musanza Derby. The home team, the elegant dynamites of Mazabuka, were determined to break their three-year losing streak to their bitter rivals.
As the game kicked off, both teams were cautious and measured in their approach, with neither side able to break through the other’s defense. The first half ended in a scoreless draw, but the tension was building as the second half began.
But it was FC Muza‘s Mwiya Mwiya who ultimately lit up the stadium with his spectacular goal in the 53rd minute. His precise strike found the back of the net, sending the home crowd into a frenzy. The goal was all FC Muza needed to secure their historic first ever Musanza Derby win over Green Eagles.
The victory was particularly sweet for the team and their fans, as it keeps FC Muza on a perfect 100% record in 2023, having also recorded their first win of the year last weekend over Green Buffaloes in Lusaka. With this win, FC Muza climbs to fourth on the league table with 31 points, sparking dreams of continental football and even a league title for the Mazabuka-based team.
The sweet town faithful were in full voice throughout the match, cheering on their beloved FC Muza to victory. It was a day to remember for the team and their fans, as they made history and wrote their names in the annals of Mazabuka football.
