Zesco United’s struggles in the MTN Super League continued as they were held to a goalless draw by FC MUZA in a Week 11 fixture played at Nakambala Stadium on Saturday.
The nine-time Zambian champions went into the match hoping to bounce back from a string of poor results but were once again left frustrated in front of goal. Despite dominating possession and creating several clear-cut chances, the Ndola-based side failed to convert their opportunities, settling for a single point on the road.
Four Matches Without Victory
The result means Zesco United have now gone four consecutive games without a win, having lost three and drawn one. Their most recent performances have raised concerns among fans as the club continues to search for consistency under interim coach Emmanuel Siwale.
The draw pushed Zega Mambo to 11 points from nine matches, leaving them mid-table and far from the form that once made them one of the most feared sides in Zambian football.
Siwale: “We Will Take the Point”
Speaking to journalists after the match, coach Emmanuel Siwale admitted that although the team would have preferred all three points, the draw was still an acceptable result given their recent struggles.
“We will take the point; what I would say was good about this is to break what we have gone through. This hasn’t been a very good trend, losing three games in a row,” said Siwale.
“We missed pure chances; if those chances were executed well, we would have been talking about a different story. What is good is we are creating chances; what was not good was not putting the ball behind the net, so that is now our homework. A draw we will take it, but not the result we wanted.”
Focus Turns to Red Arrows Clash
Zesco United will now shift their attention to their rescheduled fixture against defending champions Red Arrows, set for Wednesday. The match presents an opportunity for the Ndola giants to return to winning ways and restore confidence within the squad.
Red Arrows, currently among the top contenders in the MTN Super League, will provide a stern test for Siwale’s men, who are desperate to revive their campaign.
