Nkana Football Club interim president Justin Bwalya has confirmed that players at the Kitwe-based giants have not yet received their allowances, following reports of financial challenges affecting the club during the ongoing 2025/26 MTN Super League season.
Bwalya acknowledged the situation while assuring fans that efforts are underway to resolve the issue and restore normalcy within the team.
“It’s true the players haven’t been paid their allowances, but we are doing everything possible to motivate them and normalize the situation,” Bwalya stated.
The revelation comes at a difficult time for the 13-time Zambian champions, who currently occupy 17th position on the league table and remain winless after eleven matches a stark contrast to the club’s storied history of success.
Supporters have voiced growing concern over the team’s welfare and performances, calling on management to act decisively to steady the ship. Nkana, one of Zambia’s most successful and supported clubs, has faced increasing financial strain in recent seasons, with inconsistent results on the pitch amplifying frustrations.
Despite the challenges, Bwalya reaffirmed the club’s commitment to its players and fans, adding that plans are in motion to address both the financial and performance issues.
Club insiders have indicated that the situation could soon improve as management explores potential sponsorship and restructuring options to stabilize operations at the Wusakile-based outfit.
Nkana’s struggles both financial and sporting have left their passionate fan base demanding answers. While the executive remains optimistic about finding solutions, the coming weeks will be crucial in determining whether Zambia’s most decorated club can turn things around on and off the pitch.
