Bankers beat Nchanga Rangers to land experienced midfielder ahead of 2025 MTN Super League season
Zanaco FC have officially completed the signing of midfielder John Chishimba from ZESCO United, in a move that strengthens the Bankers’ midfield options ahead of the 2025 MTN Super League campaign.
The deal was finalized after Chishimba’s agent, Nawa Nyambe, held successful talks with Zanaco officials. The 27-year-old has now penned a two-year contract and is already in Lusaka to begin preparations with his new team.
Nchanga Rangers Miss Out As Zanaco Seal Transfer
Zanaco faced late interest from Nchanga Rangers, who were keen to hijack the transfer, but the Bankers moved swiftly to finalize terms and secure the experienced midfielder’s signature. Chishimba becomes one of Zanaco’s key acquisitions as the club looks to rebuild after a disappointing run in the 2024 season.
Chishimba, known for his vision, composure, and ball-winning abilities in the center of the park, is expected to bring leadership and depth to a Zanaco side that has lacked consistency in midfield.

The move signals Zanaco’s ambition to re-establish themselves among Zambia’s elite clubs after failing to compete for continental qualification in recent seasons. With head coach Kelvin Kaindu eager to revamp the squad, Chishimba’s addition marks a positive step in reshaping the team’s midfield core.
More signings are expected to follow as Zanaco continue their transfer activity before the start of the new campaign.
