Zanaco FC Appoints Numba Mumamba as Head Coach
Zanaco Football Club has officially unveiled Numba Mumamba as their new head coach, marking his return to the club where he has achieved significant success both as a player and coach. Joining him on the technical bench are Noel Mwandila, who will serve as his first assistant, and David Chilufya as his second assistant. The trio has signed contracts lasting two and a half years.
Numba Mumamba is no stranger to Zanaco FC, having previously guided the club to the Zambia Premier League title in 2016. Over the years, his coaching credentials have grown stronger, with notable achievements including:
Four league titles (two with Zanaco FC and two with Zesco United).
Two Charity Shield trophies.
One ABSA/Barclays Cup victory.
His return brings a wealth of tactical expertise and a deep understanding of Zanaco’s culture and philosophy.
At the unveiling, Zanaco FC CEO Modest Hamalabbi highlighted the need for a change in direction after the team’s struggles in the first half of the season. He expressed confidence in Numba’s ability to rejuvenate the squad, especially in addressing their defensive frailties.
“It is a big challenge that I have decided to take, and I know I am equal to the task. I have seen how the team has been performing lately, and it is the defense we need to work on. We have been scoring, but our defense has been bad, and if we improve on that, then we will be good.” Coach Numba’s sentiment.
Zanaco fans will be eager to see immediate improvements, particularly in defense, as the team looks to restore its competitive edge. With Numba’s track record of success and familiarity with the club, there is optimism that he can steer the team back to glory.
All eyes are on Sunset Stadium to see how this new chapter unfolds for the Bankers.
