Zambia Ready for CHAN 2024 Qualifiers as Dates Confirmed
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced the dates for the Total Energies African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024, set to take place from 1st to 28th February 2025 in East Africa. Following the recent CAF Executive Committee meeting held in Nairobi, Kenya, it was confirmed that the first round of qualifiers will kick off between 25-27 October 2024.
CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe visited Kenya over the weekend to assess the venues being prepared for the tournament. He praised the progress made while urging stakeholders to work swiftly to ensure the facilities are fully prepared for the competition.
The CHAN tournament, which is exclusively for players competing in their home countries, will be hosted in East Africa for the first time, with Kenya taking the lead in preparations. Stadiums and venues for the tournament will be announced in due course. As teams gear up for the qualifiers, defending champions Senegal will aim to retain their title after their 2023 victory in Algiers, Algeria.
Zambia’s Expectations Zambia, traditionally a strong contender in African football, is expected to be among the teams competing in the qualifiers, with high hopes of making it to the final tournament. After a period of rebuilding, the Zambian national team, popularly known as Chipolopolo, will be looking to regain their dominance in the region.
With the dates confirmed, Zambian football fans will be eagerly awaiting the announcement of Zambia’s qualifiers fixtures. The road to CHAN 2024 is set, and the excitement is palpable.
