The Zambia Women’s National Volleyball Team is set for a major continental challenge as the team prepares to make its debut at the 2026 CAVB African Women’s Volleyball Nations Championship in Nairobi, Kenya.
The championship is scheduled to run from 25 August to 5 September 2026, bringing together some of the continent’s leading women’s volleyball teams as Zambia looks to make its mark on the African stage.
Head coach Arnold Simulezi says the team is ready for the challenge after spending seven days in camp preparing for the tournament. Simulezi says the players are in high spirits and are looking forward to representing Zambia at their first continental championship.
The coach has also called on Zambian supporters to continue encouraging the team as they embark on what promises to be an important milestone for women’s volleyball in the country.
Simulezi expressed appreciation to the team’s sponsors for their support, noting that partnerships of this nature are important in providing opportunities for young women to develop their sporting careers and gain exposure at international level.
The 14-member squad features a blend of experience, emerging talent and youthful determination as Zambia prepares to compete against some of Africa’s established volleyball nations.
Simulezi will be supported by First Assistant Coach Mweemba Martin Lloyd and Second Assistant Coach Monde Akalaluka as the technical team looks to guide the players through their historic continental campaign.
For Zambia, the tournament represents more than just competition. It is an opportunity to gain valuable international experience, showcase the country’s growing volleyball talent and inspire more young women to take up the sport.
With preparations now complete, the Copper Queens of volleyball will head into the championship determined to make a strong first impression and raise the Zambian flag high in Nairobi.
