The Copper Queens started the game on the back foot, with Spain dominating possession and creating several chances. It only took 9 minutes for Spain to take the lead through Teresa albelleira goal. In the 13th minute, Jennifer Hormoso doubled Spain’s lead with a powerful strike.
Zambia struggled to get back into the game and conceded 3 more goals in the second half. Rodondo Ferrer scored at the 69th minute and Jenifer Hormoso scored another goal a minute later. Rodondo Ferrer scored again to give La Roja a 5th goal in the 85th minute to make it 5-0
The defeat leaves Zambia with no point after two games in their group. Their chances of progressing to the knockout stage has been shuttered but will play their last group game against Costa Rica on 31st of July 2023
