Senegalese forward Sadio Manè has set a new record for African players when he finished second at this years Ballon d’Or.
Sadio Manè became the first African player to finish in the top three of Ballon d’Or rankings since 1995 when George Weah from Liberia won the prestigious award.
The former Liverpool forward and now with Bayern Munchen finished 4th last year and this year has managed to finish second.
His second finish place has achieved a career-high rank at the France football organized awards to beat African legends Samuel Eto’o and Didier Drogba’s highest Balloon d’Or ranks who both never made it to the top three throughout their careers.
