In 2018, she moved to Indeni Roses, where she dominated the Copperbelt Women’s League, scoring 21 goals in 18 matches and leading the team to the league title.

Breaking Into Europe: BIIK Kazygurt (2019–2021)

At just 18 years old, Kundananji secured her first professional contract abroad, signing with Kazakh champions BIIK Kazygurt in 2019. She played a crucial role in securing back-to-back league titles in 2019 and 2020, gaining valuable experience in European football.

Spain’s Top Flight: SD Eibar (2022)

Kundananji took her talents to Spain’s Primera Iberdrola, signing with SD Eibar for the 2021–22 season. She made an instant impact, scoring 8 goals in 21 appearances, including a memorable brace against Tenerife in a 3–2 thriller.

Madrid CFF (2022–2024): The Breakout Season

In August 2022, Kundananji joined Madrid CFF, where she became a star. Her incredible form saw her score:

  • A hat-trick against Alhama CF

  • A brace against FC Barcelona in a historic 2-1 win

  • A total of 25 goals in the 2022–23 Liga F season, finishing second in the Golden Boot race behind Alba Redondo (27 goals)

Her goals propelled Madrid CFF to a fifth-place finish, their best-ever in the league.

World-Record Transfer to Bay FC (2024)

On 13 February 2024, Kundananji made history, signing with Bay FC for a world-record transfer fee of £625,000. The deal runs until 2027, with an option for an additional year.

She made her NWSL debut on 30 March 2024, coming on as a 62nd-minute substitute against the Houston Dash. In true star fashion, she scored her first NWSL goal in the 93rd minute, becoming the first Zambian to play and score in the NWSL.

International Career

2018 AWCON & Early International Success

Kundananji made her senior debut for Zambia at the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON), where she scored three goals, including a brace against Equatorial Guinea.

2020 Olympics Qualification & Debut

She played a key role in Zambia’s first-ever Olympic qualification at the CAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament. At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics (held in 2021 due to COVID-19), she scored in Zambia’s dramatic 4-4 draw against China, also assisting another goal.

Despite Zambia’s group-stage exit, their spirited performances earned praise from then-president Edgar Lungu, who described them as “resilient and hardworking.”

2022 Women’s AFCON Controversy

In July 2022, Kundananji, alongside Barbra Banda and two other teammates, was controversially ruled ineligible for the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations due to CAF’s strict gender verification rules. The ruling, which prevented them from competing, sparked global backlash, with Human Rights Watch condemning it as a “clear violation of human rights.”

2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup

Kundananji played a key role in Zambia’s stunning 3-2 victory over Germany in a pre-World Cup friendly, scoring and assisting in the game. Days later, she was named in Zambia’s 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup squad.

2024 Olympics Call-Up

On 3 July 2024, Kundananji was officially called up to Zambia’s squad for the 2024 Summer Olympics, marking her second consecutive Olympic appearance.
