The Zambian Premier League (ZPL) has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that Nkana FC forward Nduna Zulu has been banned over a celebration gesture described as the “Zoom” symbol, insisting that the claims are misleading and should not be treated as factual.
In a statement issued on Thursday, 15 October 2026, the league addressed speculation suggesting that Zulu had been handed disciplinary sanctions by either the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) or the ZPL following the celebration.
The claims began circulating on social media on Thursday morning, prompting discussion among football fans and other stakeholders about the alleged punishment. However, the ZPL has moved to clarify the situation, distancing itself from the reports and urging the public to rely on verified information.
“The ZPL wishes to clarify that the claims circulating are misleading and should not be treated as factual,” the league said in a statement issued by its Head of Communications, Christina Zulu.
The league also called on media organisations, bloggers, football stakeholders and members of the public to exercise caution when sharing football-related information, emphasising the importance of confirming claims through credible and official sources before publishing or circulating them.
“The Zambian Premier League remains committed to protecting the integrity of the game,” the statement added.
The ZPL further indicated its willingness to engage with individuals and organisations seeking clarification on football-related matters, encouraging responsible communication to prevent unverified claims from spreading.
Importantly, the statement did not announce any disciplinary action against Nduna Zulu. Instead, it focused on dismissing the reports alleging that the Nkana forward had been banned over the celebration gesture.
The clarification comes amid online speculation surrounding the player, with the league seeking to put the record straight and prevent the unverified claims from being presented as established fact.
