Mumamba Targets Redemption vs Mutondo Stars

ZANACO FC head coach Numba Mumamba has called for a strong response from his side as they prepare for a decisive MTN Super League Week 26 encounter against Mutondo Stars at Kafubu Stadium in Luanshya.

Following a dip in form that has seen ZANACO drop four points in their last two matches, Mumamba has emphasised the importance of bouncing back with maximum points to maintain their push for a top-four finish.

Speaking ahead of the fixture, Mumamba acknowledged the urgency within his squad and the need for a decisive performance.

“We have dropped four points in the last two games we have played and this is a game where we have to make amends. We shall fight hard and collect maximum points,” he said.

The Bankers head into the match aware of the challenge that awaits them in Luanshya, where Mutondo Stars have built a reputation as a difficult side to break down, particularly on home soil.

“We expect a very tough game. Mutondo Stars is a very stubborn side especially when they are playing at home. One can’t go there with a mind of winning the game—you have to do it on the pitch,” Mumamba added.

Despite the challenge, the ZANACO boss remains confident in his team’s preparation and familiarity with the venue, having previously played at Kafubu Stadium during a four-team tournament.

“We have done our homework, we are ready to fight for the three points. About the pitch, it is familiar territory for us. We just need a positive attitude to win this game and consolidate our position in the top four brackets.”

ZANACO will draw confidence from their first-leg victory earlier this season, where they secured a comfortable 2-0 win over Mutondo Stars at Sunset Stadium on 26 October 2025 during Week 9.

However, with Mutondo Stars expected to leverage home advantage at Kafubu Stadium, the return fixture presents an entirely different test.

Mumamba also took a moment to rally the club’s supporters, acknowledging their continued backing throughout the season.

“To the fans, we can only urge them to continue supporting the team. They have been there through good and bad times we are very grateful. Let them come in numbers to support the team.”

Kick-off for the encounter is set for 15:00, with both sides eyeing crucial points as the MTN Super League campaign enters a decisive phase.

For ZANACO, the mission is clear: respond, regroup, and reinforce their ambitions of finishing among Zambia’s elite in the top 4.
