Mukoma & Mapepa Crowned Champions as Beijing WFC Snatch Chinese Super League Title on Final Day
Zambia continues to make waves on the global stage as Fridah Mukoma and Xiomara Mapepa have officially won the 2025 Chinese Women’s Super League title with Beijing Women’s FC — clinched dramatically on the final day of the season.
Beijing WFC entered the decisive showdown sitting second on the table, trailing Liaoning S.H., but produced a stunning 4-0 victory to leapfrog their rivals at the last hurdle. While Mukoma missed the match due to injury and Mapepa remained an unused substitute, their contributions throughout the campaign were vital to the club’s success.
Before her injury setback, Mukoma — on loan from Kansas City Current — recorded 8 goals and 1 assist in just 13 league matches, establishing herself as one of the league’s most clinical attackers. Her explosive form was instrumental in keeping Beijing in the title race. Mapepa, who joined the club later in the season, featured in two matches, adding valuable depth during crucial stages of their championship run.
This triumph adds yet another chapter to Zambia’s growing list of global success stories in women’s football. From Barbra Banda dominating in the USA, Racheal Kundananji breaking records in Spain, to Mukoma and Mapepa lifting silverware in China, the Copper Queens diaspora continues to fly the Zambian flag high.
As Beijing WFC celebrates domestic glory, all eyes now shift to what’s next for the Zambian duo. Will Mukoma return to full fitness and extend her stay in China? Will Mapepa earn more minutes next season? One thing is certain — Zambian footballers are no longer just participating… they are WINNING.
