Kingstone Mutandwa Crowned Player Of The Week
Zambian striker Kingstone Mutandwa is making headlines in Austria after being named the ADMIRAL Player of the Week, thanks to a sparkling display for SV Ried in the Austrian Bundesliga.
The 22-year-old forward, currently on loan from Italian Serie A side Cagliari, proved to be the star attraction in what turned out to be a five-goal thriller against Austria Wien. Although Ried fell to a narrow 3–2 defeat, Mutandwa’s brilliance lit up the stage.
The Chipolopolo youngster struck first in the 14th minute with an ice-cold finish before doubling his tally just before halftime, pouncing on a defensive lapse to punish Wien. His first-half brace had fans singing his name and analysts tipping him as one to watch this season.
The ADMIRAL Player of the Week accolade is reserved for outstanding individual brilliance in the Austrian top flight, and Mutandwa’s two-goal heroics were more than enough to secure him the honor.
For Zambia, it’s another sign that the next generation is ready to carry the flag high in Europe. And for SV Ried, if Mutandwa keeps this form, they might just have one of the Bundesliga’s deadliest finishers on their hands.
