MTN Super League Top 10 Scorers Chart: Kangwanda Leads the Pack

MTN Super League Top 10 Scorers Chart: Kangwanda Leads the Pack

The 2025/26 MTN Super League Golden Boot race continues to gather momentum as Week 20 confirms a new leader at the summit of the scorers’ chart. Albert Kangwanda has surged to the top, underlining his growing influence in the title race.

With multiple clubs represented across the Top 10, the battle for individual scoring honours reflects the league’s competitive balance and attacking depth.

Albert Kangwanda of Red Arrows now leads the standings with eight goals. His finishing efficiency has been central to Red Arrows’ attacking structure, particularly in high-pressure fixtures. Kangwanda’s ability to convert limited chances into decisive goals has separated him from the chasing pack. From a technical standpoint, his spatial awareness inside the penalty area has been exceptional this season.

Closely trailing is Moses Shumah of Power Dynamos with seven goals. Shumah’s role within Power’s attacking transitions has been pivotal, often exploiting defensive gaps with intelligent off-the-ball movement. The one-goal gap between first and second keeps the Golden Boot contest finely poised.

Christopher Itaka of Nchanga Rangers sits third with six goals. His contributions have been critical for Nchanga’s attacking output, especially in tightly contested matches. Meanwhile, a trio on five goals — Eliya Mandanji of Zanaco, Collins Sikombe of Green Eagles, and Francis Banda of Kabwe Warriors — remain firmly in contention. Their consistency suggests the race remains open heading into the latter stages of the campaign.

Further down the chart, Lewis Kasono of MUZA FC, Idriss Ilunga Mbombo of Nkana, Owen Mwamba of Mufulira Wanderers, and Amine Hiver of ZESCO United have each netted four goals. While slightly off the pace, they remain within striking distance should momentum swing in their favour.

From an analytical perspective, the current goal spread indicates a league characterized by structured defensive systems. The absence of double-digit scorers by Week 20 suggests tactical discipline is prevailing over expansive attacking football. However, this also means the Golden Boot remains highly competitive, as two strong performances could dramatically alter the rankings.

In my view, Kangwanda’s rise is deserved but far from decisive. The coming weeks will test consistency, physical endurance and adaptability. With clubs battling for league positions, attacking players will face increasingly compact defensive setups — making clinical efficiency more important than sheer volume of chances.

Albert Kangwanda’s move to the top of the MTN Super League scorers’ chart marks a defining moment in the 2025/26 season. Yet with Moses Shumah and several others close behind, the Golden Boot race remains wide open.

As the campaign progresses, the true test will not be who scores spectacular goals — but who maintains scoring consistency under mounting pressure.
