Lameck Banda Out of AFCON Qualifiers Due to Injury
Chipolopolo winger Lameck Banda has been ruled out of Zambia’s crucial AfCON qualifiers due to an injury sustained while playing for Lecce in Italy.
Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Communications Manager, Sydney Mungala, confirmed that Banda has been assessed and deemed unfit for the upcoming games against Ivory Coast and Sierra Leone.
Additionally, goalkeeper Kingstone Mutandwa is also set to miss the two games due to injury. To strengthen the squad, Coach Avram Grant has called up Jackson Kampamba from Mutondo Stars. All other summoned players, including Benson Sakala who is in transit, are available.
The Chipolopolo face Ivory Coast on Friday at 18:00 hours in a must-win Group G encounter as they aim to secure their place in the AfCON tournament.
