Konkola Blades Confirm Promotion to MTN Super League
Konkola Blades Football Club have officially secured their return to the MTN Super League after a goalless draw against Jumulo FC in Week 31 of the ZPL National League. The result pushes Blades to 63 points, making them mathematically uncatchable by fifth-placed Trident, who sit on 51 points with only three games remaining.
With promotion sealed, the Chililabombwe-based side becomes the first club to qualify for the 2025/26 MTN Super League, marking a triumphant moment in what has been a dominant season.
Focus Shifts to Finishing Top
Though promotion is already in the bag, the Blades are not done yet. The remaining goal is to finish the season as champions of the ZPL National League. Holding a significant lead over second-placed Kitwe United and Mines United, Konkola will aim to close out the season with consistency and possibly lift the league title to cap off a fantastic campaign.
Defensive Solidity Key to Success
Konkola Blades’ success this season has largely been built on a strong defensive foundation. Conceding fewer goals than most of their rivals, they’ve mastered the art of grinding out results, especially away from home. The draw against Jumulo is a prime example of how the team has remained disciplined even when goals are hard to come by.
What This Means
For the fans in Chililabombwe, this is more than just promotion—it’s a return to elite Zambian football. The “Sharp Razor” is back, and with the MTN Super League now in sight, the task will be to strengthen the squad for the challenges ahead.
