Keith Mweemba Elected New FAZ President

Mweemba Takes Over FAZ Leadership After Decisive Victory Over Kamanga

FC MUZA proprietor and Lusaka-based lawyer Keith Mweemba has been elected as the new President of the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) following a decisive victory during elections held at Misuku Lodge in Kabwe.

Mweemba secured 45 votes, comfortably beating incumbent Andrew Kamanga, who polled 20, and former FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala, who managed 17. Former players Moses Munaile and Blackwell Hafwiti received no votes.

The result brings an end to Kamanga’s nine-year reign at the helm of Zambian football, which began in 2016. Mweemba is set to serve from 2025 to 2029, ushering in a new era for Zambian football governance.

“This is a victory for the future of Zambian football. I’m ready to serve and transform our game,” Mweemba said after his election.

Mutale Ng’andu Elected FAZ Vice President After Rerun

In another key result, Mutale Ng’andu was voted in as FAZ Vice President following a rerun against Justin Mumba. The initial vote failed to produce a majority winner (50%+1), triggering a second round.

Ng’andu eventually triumphed with 52 votes, ahead of Mumba’s 30.

Ng’andu, a respected figure in sports administration, now joins Mweemba in leading a new-look FAZ executive, expected to prioritize grassroots development, transparency, and infrastructure growth.

Priscilla Katoba Ratified As FAZ Women’s National Representative

Elsewhere, Colonel Priscilla Katoba was ratified unopposed as the FAZ Women’s National Representative. Her nomination was proposed by Green Buffaloes Women FC and seconded by FC MUZA.

Katoba’s appointment is seen as a strong endorsement of her commitment to women’s football development, particularly after her consistent support of Green Buffaloes Women’s dominance in the FAZ Women’s Super Division.

A New Era for FAZ: What Lies Ahead

Mweemba’s victory marks a significant political shift in Zambian football, with the electorate opting for fresh leadership over continuity. As the head of FC MUZA—a club that has seen rapid growth under his leadership—Mweemba brings a reputation for professionalism, youth investment, and corporate discipline.

With the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on the horizon, and calls for stronger youth systems and better domestic league structures, the new FAZ administration will be under pressure to deliver results both on and off the pitch.
